Imagine there is a residential or office air purification system that mimics nature’s normal behavior of purifying air from the atmosphere, all within the air conditioned space. This technology is already a reality and is the moto of the company RGF Environmental Group Inc. with the introduction of its Reme Halo air purifier. This innovative purification system releases hydro-peroxide plasma in the air, which actively acts on pollutants for a better and more optimal filtration in the return of the air cycle.

The Reme Halo, unlike other air purification systems, does not use any filtering method. Instead, it is an “indoor air quality” generator, emitting hydrogen peroxide, a totally harmless, health friendly and oxygen-based gas. In general terms, this gas, once in the environment, makes an advanced oxidation reaction that disables odors and kills air pollutants.

This system is highly effective in attacking pollutants in their three main forms: gases, particles, and microbes. Moreover, it significantly reduces allergenic agents such as mold spores, dust, and dead organic tissue. It has been extensively tested on airborne viruses and bacteria showing incredible efficacy, particularly on MRSA (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus), Norwalk and e-coli. Likewise, it is highly effective in neutralizing strong odors from the environment such as cooking, pets, dirty clothes, sweat and body odors, changing diapers, damp rooms and musty smells.

More in detail on the operation of the Reme Halo air purifier?

The Reme Halo is a purification system awarded with the “Dealer Design Award 2015” a prestigious recognition of innovation in the heating, ventilation and air conditioning industry. The RGF company invented the Reflective Electro Magnetic Energy technology. This technology works directly in the environment by coagulating particles and pollutants, making them bigger chunks easier to vacuum, sweep or trap in the air return filter.

Reme Halo functionality

As we have already mentioned, this technology is based on the production of hydro-peroxide plasma, a gas normally produced in the earth’s atmosphere and through which the natural process of purifying air from in the environment is carried out.

The hydro-peroxide advanced controlled oxidation

The oxidation process is a complex reaction between molecules where an electron is lost or gained. When we think of oxidation, the first thing that comes to mind is the way the metal produces rust or when we light a match and it burns quickly. Unlike these types of oxidation, there are oxidizers that revert their state to water, hydrogen or oxygen. These are classified as “friendly oxidizers” and are always oxygen-based.

We all have even a small knowledge about what ozone is. The gas that covers a large part of our Earth’s atmosphere and helps out against the harmful direct sun UV light rays. The use of ozone has become widespread in applications for indoor air quality purifiers. The truth is that ozone is an effective oxidizer, but it represents a health hazard even in low doses, mainly due to its carcinogenic effects.

On the other hand, hydrogen peroxide has the same composition as water, only with an additional hydrogen atom. So far it doesn’t sound that threatening. This compound has been used in the medical industry as a disinfectant for over 170 years and is considered the safest oxidizer on the planet (after oxygen). Also hydrogen peroxide is widely used in the production of toothpastes, mouthwashes and cleaning products. It is even the same solution that is placed in vaporizers as a remedy for respiratory problems in children.

However, high concentrations of hydroperoxides (over 1 ppm) could be harmful to health. Even oxygen, which is what makes breathing possible, in high concentrations can be harmful, and even toxic. The levels of this component in nature abound between 0.01 and 0.03 ppm, which could be considered as normal parameters.

Reme Halo air purifier

The company RGF Environmental Group Inc. developed the patented Photohydroionization (PHI) technology in the late 1990s. With this, hydroperoxides can be created through the humidity of the air with the use of a heating or air conditioning systems. This system proposes a proactive and infallible solution for air sanitizing. PHI kills microbes and bacteria at their source and prevents accumulation and subsequent growth in conventional filters.

Photohydroionization is a green technology that contributes not only to effectively kill pathogenic micro-organisms and control the air quality of our spaces, it also lowers ozone levels while doing its process. It has a low energy consumption rate (12 watts), equivalent to the light bulb that we use inside the refrigerator. Its use also does not subject any form of load to the air flow system. The technology is transported in the form of gas and returns the sediments through the same air in a sustainable and super practical system.

According to studies on Photohydroionization, this is the relationship of its effectiveness:

  • Viruses – 99%
  • Bacteria – 99%
  • Odors – 55% to 98%
  • Mold 97% to 98%
  • Volatile organic compounds – 80% to 99%
  • Smoke – 70%

The Reme Halo duct air purification system works with a simple installation that does not require any significant investment in terms of cost. It works with interchangeable cells for the production of hydroperoxide, with a life span of 18,000 to 25,000 hours (2 – 3 years of continuous use). The Reme Halo unit has a quick release feature that allows cell changes easily from outside the facility. Some of the most important technical information:

Benefits and important features

The Reme Halo air purifier system was recently enhanced to have a more efficient and consistent hydroperoxide output, offering a higher kill rate for contaminants and microbes on all surfaces and environments. The greater the output of the component, the greater and the faster the decrease in allergenic agents, which contributes to a real relief for those who suffer from respiratory problems.

Reme Halo

The use of this system has become widespread and is currently used by large groups of industries, such as: food processing, government, military, hospitality, marine, commercial and residential HVAC. Additionally, this product has been selected as the ideal option in the prevention of air pollutants in long chains of theme parks, restaurants, hotels, cruise lines, hospitals and public schools.

Various universities and independent research agents have conducted studies on the benefits of Photohydroionization technology. Innovative Bioanalysis, in Cypress California recognizes the positive effects of the use of PHI-PKG14 cells against the activation of SARS-CoV-2 (the virus that causes COVID-19).

Studies on COVID-19 showed a reduction of more than 99% of the virus in the air. The test was carried out in a large room (1,280 cubic feet) using the direct sampling method of the virus in aerosol form. The results were the same in both surface and aerial tests.

Apart from the great effectiveness of the use of the Reme Halo air purifier against the COVID-19 virus, the system also showed similar results in Sneeze tests, avian Influenza (Bird Flu), H1N1 (Swine Flu), Norovirus, Bacillius Globigii, Bacillus Cereus, E-coli, Legionella, Listeria Monocytogenes, MRSA, Pseudomonas, Salmonella, Staphylococcus Aureus, Streptococcus Pneumoniae, Streptococcus, Tuberculosis, Mold, Bacteria, Stachybotrys Chartarum, Ethylene, Formaldehyde, Smoke and Ozone. All these studies were carried out using RGF’s Advanced Oxidation with less than 0.02 ppm.

General characteristics:

  • Use dual ionizers to remove dust particles, spores, pollen, dead tissue and mold.
  • It reduces the germs spread in the sneeze up to 99% before it reaches the three feet of expansion (fast fulminating action).
  • Kills up to 99 percent of viruses, mold, and bacteria.
  • Zinc ions are more effective against viruses on surfaces.
  • Contrary to air purification systems located in specific rooms or offices, the Reme Halo system is installed in the air duct, just after the fan. The purification effect is carried out throughout the residence or building. Basically all the areas that have access to ventilation.
  • Non-invasive installation, it only requires to be placed inside the air duct, and that’s it.
  • It has two quick release functionalities for easy access to cell change. No tools are needed to perform this process.
  • It includes a function that allows the control of the oxidation level of the plasma output.
