The BOTW Shae Loya Shrine is one of the easiest yet enjoyable Spirit Orb trial locations you will have to beat. It doesn’t require any complicated puzzle solving skill or set of guidelines to be able to overcome its challenge. At a glance, in order to obtain the Monk’s chest, you will have to activate a switch remotely. That is indeed all the complication there is to it. Although there are other chests and prizes that will require a little extra expertise to get.

The challenge associated with the BOTW Shae Loya Shrine is called “Aim for the Moment”. This title references pretty clearly the two skills you will have to use in order to beat it: Accurate bow shooting skills (with bullet-time slow motion effects) and the good old Stasis, precisely casted in a timely manner.

Shae Loya Shrine location

The Shae Loya Shrine is located inside the Ridgeland Tower area, heading southwest from that specific tower, and a little south from Tabantha Bridge Stable (southeast of Tabantha Tower).

You can reach Shae Loya Shrine destination by jumping and paragliding from the Ridgeland Tower heading south west. You will find a pathway leading to a canyon towards the west. Follow that path and you will be able to spot the shrine on the mountain ridge, just right above the Tabantha Bridge Stable. It is in a straight line, right to the south from it, it will be hard to miss.

Alternatively, you can go to the Shae Loya Shrine location heading towards the south east from Tabantha Tower, through the Tabantha wooden sticks bridge and crossing the canyon. For some, this is an even easier route, because is closer and more convenient.

Upon entering the shrine

After locating the BOTW Shae Loya Shrine, you will proceed inside taking the elevator to the level below. You will see a message that says:

“To you who sets foot in this Shrine… I am Shae Loya. In the name of the goddess Hylia, I offer this trial”.

The room has a high ceiling and there is a small platform protruding down the path you entered. Get on that little platform, and right in front of you there will be a moving column shooting up a ball into the air repeatedly over time. You will notice a slope and a dish bowl right in front of that setting. The objective here is to snap out the ball from the trajectory of the column boulder and make it roll down the slope and into the dish.

In order to do that, cast Stasis on the ball right in the moment it reaches its maximum height. Once frozen, shooting one or two arrows to the ball will do the trick. That will be enough to take out and make it roll down the slope and into the slot. If you do this correctly, you would have activated the platform you are currently on. Now you will see that platform will start shooting you into the air repeatedly.

The goodies before the final prize

Before moving to the final objective of the BOTW Shae Loya Shrine: getting the Spirit Orb, there are a few other prizes you surely might be interested in. There are two chests containing extra loot; one with a piece of Topaz, and the other one holding a Falcon Bow Quick Shot.

Wait until the platform shoots you into the air and when you reach the highest point possible, use your paraglider heading towards the other shooting platform (the one that had the ball). Once there, keep walking further ahead towards the direction you came and on the top of that slope you will see a chest. Open it for a valuable chunk of Topaz.

Get on that shooting platform, and when on air, use your paraglider again to return to the first shooting platform boulder thingy. This time, right on the left from the area you were you will see a floating wooden platform, attached to the wall by two strings. This is where you will put your Legolas skills in use. Hop on the platform and when launched in the air, pull out your bow and activate the slow motion effect aiming the two strings that hold the platform.

Once. you hit the two strings, the platform will flip and the chest will fall. Here you will be able to open the chest and take your loot. This treasure chests contains a Falcon Bow Quick Shot.

Beating Shae Loya Shrine

Get on the launching stone near the entrance once again. This time, look to your left (left from where the Falcon Bow chest was). You will see a hole on the wall and a little further away the switch. Do your slow motion bow shooting Legolas skill again and try to hit the switch. The switch is blue when off, and it will turn orange to indicate it was activated. If you do, you will see the gate on the lower level starts to open.

Go through that gate and into the next chamber, and you will see the monk and the chest. Proceed and take your Spirit Orb.

Getting the Spirit Orbs in Zelda Breath of the Wild

The Zelda franchise, since birth, has been defined by the action RPG genre. There are aspects to it that has given a distinctive mechanic to all Zelda games: You won’t find progression bars, level or skill trees. Instead, what defines your dexterity and strength is your capacity to stay alive.

All the shrines in-game have a particular objective, and this is providing Link with Spirit Orbs. The latter, is a means to having more “hearts” or an increased health bar meter. Additionally we have the option to redeem those orbs into stamina, to help us perform tasks in-game, like climbing and running with more ease.

There are several more shrines scattered all around the game, and the more we beat, the more rewarding and ejoyable the game will become. Who doesn’t want to feel stronger and no match for any fight you can encounter in the game.
