The Ishto Soh Shrine is located in the Lake Region, along the Southwestern cliff in Oseira Plains. You will find it to the East of Daval Peak, South of the Taobab Grassland, and North of the Nautelle Wetlands. When coming from the North or South, it’s as simple as following the cliffs in the plains area to your destination. Coming from Daval Peak will have you ascending the mountainous area in order to reach the same altitude as the shrine’s entrance. If you’re farther out from the shrine to the East, use the Mounted Archery Camp as a guide to proceed in a straight line to the shrine.

Location

If you’re coming from the East through the Oseira Plains, keep a close eye out for the two Red-Maned Lynels that patrol around the area. There are also Stalmoblins that come out at night. Coming from Daval Peak will have you encountering Blizzrobes, Ice-Breath Lizalfos, and a Decayed Guardian you’ll need to be aware of. There are also four Korok Seeds surrounding the Ishto Soh Shrine’s entrance, so it may be in your best interest to collect those first before challenging the shrine.

You’ll need to be adept with gliding in order to complete this shrine. If you want to provide yourself with a real challenge, utilize your Bombs and Arrows. As with all shrines, there is no uniform way to complete the challenges, so you can take parts of this guide to assist you and work out the rest of the puzzles on your own. That is one of the advantages to have a flexible system in place where your fun and creativity is always guaranteed.

Once inside Ishto Soh Shrine

BOTW Ishto Soh Shrine

This shrine is introduced with the title ‘Bravery’s Grasp.’ Once you enter the shrine, you’ll see a fenced area in front of you with a walled off area on the left portion, and a large ramp to your immediate  left. Head down the ramp and you’ll see a small, square platform moving from where the ramp ends into the back of the shrine. There is an orange crystal switch on your right and further to the right is a cube with a blue laser shooting from it. The first thing you’ll want to do is grab the cube and set it on the moving platform in order for it to hit the crystal and turn it blue. Once the crystal is hit, head back to where you got the cube  in order to grab the treasure chest that was sealed off by the laser to get some Topaz.

The laser beam

Since the laser is moving along with the platform, it will be constantly switching the crystal switch on and off from blue to orange. As you head back up the ramp, you’ll notice that the crystal switch is making the columns on the wall behind you move up and down when hit. You’ll also see another treasure chest you can access before you leave the Ishto Soh Shrine. Behind one of the walls, you’ll be able to see other columns moving up and down as well because of the switch.

The columns

For now, focus on the columns that you’re able to access right away without finding a way around the wall. Once you’re back near the entrance of the shrine, you’ll need to glide to the left in order to get onto one of the lowered columns. Once on one, all you have to do is wait for the column to raise you up in order to get to the one in front of you. Once you get to the column that’s closest to the treasure chest, just wait and it’ll raise you up to be on level with the platform the chest is on. Open the chest and you’ll be rewarded with an Ancient Core.

All that’s left is to get the Ishto Soh Shrine’s Spirit Orb. You’ll need to follow the rest of the rising and falling pillars to the edge of the room to glide back down to the floor or you can glide from the chest’s location to the set of moving columns set up like stairs. All you have to do is wait on those columns until they lift you up to the next level. There are four sets in all, but you can skip the first one if you have the height from gliding. If you’re not the best with gliding or end up missing the steps entirely, you’ll still be able to access the columns; you’ll just need to wait for the first set to lower in order for you to ride it to the next step.

Getting the Spirit Orb

Head to the top of those steps to get to Monk Ishto Soh, who will congratulate you for completing the Ishto Soh Shrine and give you the Spirit Orb. The Monk will disappear and the platform they were on is now your way out of the shrine. The Spirit Orb will restore any of the health you’ve lost on your journey before entering the shrine, so you can leave with full health and head out to your next shrine or other adventure! Completing the shrine after having a run-in with the Lynels or the Decayed Guardian might be an easy way to get your health back to full.

Additional remarks

An alternative way of completing the Ishto Soh Shrine is utilizing Arrows and Bombs. You can use your Arrows to continuously hit the crystal switch to get yourself to the chest with the Ancient Core. From there, instead of gliding straight over to the path that leads to the Monk, place a few Bombs near the crystal switch and detonate them one at a time in order to lift the columns to get you to the Monk. There are certainly other ways to work through the Ishto Soh Shrine, so use what you have at your disposal to challenge yourself and work through the shrine as many times as you want!

Helpful Hints: Keep the sound on while you’re playing. If switches and apparatuses are activated, a small chime will play to let you know. Use this if you’re working through different ways to solve the Ishto Soh Shrine.
