The beginning of 2021 will see the launch of the new Samsung model. This is no other than Samsung Galaxy S21. This device is one of the most anticipated for this year and comes loaded with new features and presentation.

Among the key highlights of this new model compared to the previous ones we count the metal frame on the camera and edges. Additionally, this will be the smallest Samsung Galaxy ever built. Lastly, in an effort to move away from the usual rounded-edge screen, this model will now have a flat screen.

Samsung Galaxy S21 specs

This new Samsung model promises to make things right once and for all. Lots of the complaints from early iterations of this product have been taken into account. Let’s see what the Samsung Galaxy S21 offers.

The US version of the Samsung Galaxy S21 will bring the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset. Instead, other versions marketed in foreign regions will have the Samsung Exynos 2100 chipset. Despite this difference, Samsung ensures that the performance of both models will be as similar as possible.

On the other hand, there will be aspects of the Samsung Galaxy S21 that will not have significant changes, such as the camera, battery and memory. The camera will be very similar to the one we received with the Galaxy S20. The main camera will have a 12 megapixel rear sensor with an f/1.8 aperture and a 79 degree field of view and 12 megapixel ultra wide lens. Likewise, the front camera will have 10 megapixels of resolution. The only difference between the cameras is a smaller and more efficient sensor for tele-photo mode with a resolution of 64 megapixels.

The battery will be the same 4,000mAh battery stack as the previous version. Similarly, the new model will have up to 12GB of RAM, with either 128GB, 256GB and 512GB of internal storage.

The screen size is 6.2 inches, with 120Hz Infinity-O display LTPS backplane. Interestingly, the screen will only show Full HD+, which is slightly below the resolution of previous models. This decision is understandable if the price of the Samsung will be lower than previous models. Similarly, in terms of energy consumption, opting for similar features helps to conserve some battery juice.

Regarding to screen subject matter, as we already mentioned, the Samsung Galaxy S21 will have the flat screen. One of the most common complaints from Samsung users with older models is accidentally clicking the screen by sliding the thumb along the edge of the phone. In that sense, this is good news.

Wait, what? There’s more?

As usual, the Samsung Galaxy S21 will be available in 2 additional versions: The Samsung Galaxy Plus and the Samsung Galaxy Ultra. Let’s talk about the Samsung Galaxy Plus first.

The Galaxy Plus will have a larger display than the standard one, with 6.7 inches. Also the battery will have a little more capacity with 4,800mAh. Other than these 2 changes RAM memory, internal storage, camera and design will be the same as the standard version. Therefore, both versions will be visibly identical, being the only differentiator the size.

In the Ultra version, Samsung raised the bar a little higher to offer a product with even more capabilities. The screen is the largest of the three versions with 6.8 inches and a Dynamic AMOLED and 120Hz Quad HD display. As expected, the battery also received an upgrade compared to its previous version with 5,000mAh. The camera in this version comes with 5 lenses. A 40 megapixel front camera, a 12 megapixel f/2.2 ultra wide camera, and a 108 megapixel main camera. Additionally, this model brings a Laser Auto-focus Sensor, an attribute brought by its predecessor that gave very good results. Rumor has it this model will also bring support to work with the Samsung’s S Pen.

Launch date and price

The launch of this new Samsung model is expected to be on January 14, 2021. As of this date, the release will take place on January 22. The company will begin to receive pre-orders for the device from its launch. Although on Samsung’s website you can currently make reservations to buy the device. Using this strategy, the company gives you a credit of $50USD on accessories (since this unit might not include a charger).
